Something New, an Inter-club Challenge

Something new this year. David Quemby has arranged with three other clubs in the county to form an Inter-club Challenge. There will be teams from each club, 4 different venues, and 4 different disciplines.
Shoot 1    21-05-16 WOAC, American Round, 14.30 at Old Grammarians Memorial Sports Field, Sywell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 6BS
Shoot 2    11-06-16 LBAC, Field, 13.00, Rugby Club Daventry NN11 4ST
Shoot 3    24-07-16 KAC, Clout, 10.00, Cricket and Sports Club, Kettering NN15 7JX
Shoot 4    30-07-16 NAC, Pope Young, 16.00,  Sywell Range
There are no compounds for the Clout and Pope Young
NAC members can enter for all 4 shoots or just 1 shoot, whatever they would like.  It will not necessarily be the same team for each shoot and NAC will try and give as many people a shoot as possible.  The idea is for archers to get experience at the different disciplines, so no previous experience is necessary. If you are not sure about anything or need to ask about Field shooting, Clout or the Pope Young then please come and ask Dave Quemby. Members of other clubs in the challenge should contact their own organiser.
The final shoot, the Pope Young hosted by ourselves, will also include a BBQ. All welcome even if you are not shooting for the team.
Everyone is welcome to come along to any of the venues to support and watch if you do not make the team.

Lizzie Brings Back Gold From Edinburgh

When NAC archer Lizzie Cantopher greeted members at the club shooting session on Tuesday this week, she was all smiles. Quite right so, after returning with six medals, a glass plaque and a cup fromLizzie C medals Edinburgh scaled the World Archery Commonwealth Championships for Europe Tournament held in Edinburgh on the 4th and 5th July . Lizzie, representing England, came third in the Open Ladies Recurve, and when shooting as part of the team event, England came first. This was equalled in the Mixed Team shoot, but Lizzie narrowly missed a bronze in the head-to-head. To top it all Lizzie scored a six gold end in the FITA 720 round and (subject to Dean’s scrutiny!) broke a county record. Fantastic shooting and well done. And all this in miserable wet Scottish weather. Lizzie says all NAC members should be encouraged by her efforts, and is quick to point out that every archer has the potential to be a champ. More photos can be found on the Scottish Archery Facebook page  .

Paul Bond (Recurve), Ian Hannaford (Recurve), Paul Hyde (Longbow), Christine Gibson (Recurve) and Heather Major (Barebow) meanwhile all came away with medals, whilst Mick Lovell (recurve), Steve Gibson (recurve) and Lizzie Lovell (junior recurve)  achieved very respectable scores. Medals for NAC in County Indoor Portsmouth Championships

NAC performed very well in the County Indoor Championships on Sunday 11th March at Rothwell. David Quemby received a silver in the Gents Compound with a score of 575, just two points behind Martin Ross who took gold. David went on to get a gold however in the double round with a score of 1136. Susan Corless won a gold for the ladies double recurve with a score of 1052, and Paul Hyde took a bronze in the gents recurve with a score of 1120. Mick Lovell also shot but despite scoring well, missed out on the metal. New club records were set and these will be included in the next records update later this month. Well done and thanks for representing NAC so well.
