Boxing Day 2011 “Ping” Competition.

This years Boxing Day “Ping” competition was held at the Sywell Shooting Range. The weather was very kind to us as it was a very mild 11- 12deg C  December day although at times it was rather cloudy with a fair breeze.  It’s fair to say that the majority of club members turned out for this years event. There was mulled wine and mince pies to be enjoyed by all whilst the totals were being “totted up ” by Dave Q.Close to the end of the shoot the chairman tried to escape back to the safety of his home but was cleverly ambushed by the junior members who pelted him with what looked like cotton wool snowballs. Last year of course he had similar treatment but they were using real snow. One of our longest serving  members  ( honoree ) “Pete Bond” joined us at this years event and he was thrilled with the increase in the senior membership and so impressed with the numbers of juniors coming through and taking an interest in the sport. It was nice to see Pete back at the field with a bow in his hand and he was told so by our vice chairperson Pam Joseph. On the day there was a high number of good scores but the overall winner was Pete Bond with Paul Barrett in second place and  Beryl  (our very own Bez) with Mick Lovell (topside) both in joint 3rd place. Thanks to all who participated to make this a memorable day.

Kettering Archers “Flight Shoot” Sunday 18th December 2011.

On Sunday 18th December the Kettering Archers held their annual “Flight Shoot ” at Kettering on what could only be described as a bitterly cold day. Several members of the NAC attended to take part and have a little fun, namely, Sarah S, Pam,Bez,Susan,Dan,Dave Q,Paul and Steve. The shoot had several different categories ie, Flatbow/Longbow, Recurve etc. There was also different categories depending on the weight of bows. Thinking they were only taking part for a bit of fun and not actually competing against each other, they were surprised to have ended the day with all but one of them being presented with medals. So congratulations must go to all who took part on the day for making themselves available  to once again represent the NAC.Well done.

Halloween PingTattyBoggle 2011.

Following a rather windy shoot The Little Devil wins the clubs annual halloween shoot (shot as a ping tatty bogle at 30-50 yrds).

8 archers actually managed to score. The top 3 were Ian P (11), Leigh M (15) but way out in front was Robyn with 28 points.

Congratulations also to Lizzie, Jay and Brendan for caving the best pumpkins. Our guest judge, John had a very tricky time deciding the top 3 from an excellent amount of entries this year.

Thanks to all those who joined into the spirit of the event. Some great costumes from young and old alike. Ian will be posting the pictures as soon as we get the gallery widget fixed.

Our next outdoor shoot will be the annual boxing day turkey and Christmas pudding shoot which as last year will also be a ping tatty bogle.
