Our annual Halloween Ping Tatty Bogle Fun Shoot took place at Sywell on 28th October 2017. There was a great turnout of both adults and juniors – many of whom had not shot at pumpkins in the dark before! A splendid time was had by all. Dave Stephens, our Chairman, was master in charge of scoring. Congratulations to the winners – Charlie Boddington, Rebecca Stevens, Mark Dalley and Beryl Tabberner.
A big thank you to all involved in making this shoot such a great success – a lot of hard work and well worth it! (SC)

Inter Club Challenge – A brilliant success
The last of the four rounds of the inter-club challenge between Kettering Archers, WOAC, Long Buckby AC and NAC took place at Sywell shooting grounds on Saturday 30th July. The final round was a Pope Young that turned out to be both fun and frustrating – with a few lost arrows in the process. Friendly banter kept the afternoon moving along, and at the end of the shoot, held on a fantastic sunny day that was none too hot, everyone feasted themselves on a grand barbecue. A tombola was held for the Vaughan Tucker fund in aid of a defibrillator for NAC and over £60 was raised. The series of four shoots in the challenge started off on 21st May with a Target Shoot hosted by WOAC, and Long Buckby and Kettering Clubs subsequently hosted Field and Clout Rounds respectively. Results will be posted very shortly, but suffice it to say that Kettering took the trophy for the whole series, and John Bosworth was the proud recipient on behalf of Kettering Archers of the oddly coloured PINK shield.
The seeds of the idea for the challenge had been sown by David Quemby of NAC, who subsequently took care of the admin/organisation work. It is planned to hold a similar series of shoots next year.
Thanks on the day to everyone who took part and helped NAC host the final round – including those who helped set up the targets and run the shoot, those who contributed to and ran the tombola, not least of all to those who laid on the fantastic barbecue, and those that helped tidy away afterwards. A great day for all four clubs; and a grand finale to a brilliant idea that brought the four clubs together.
Pope Young Shoot 31st May 2015
Our annual Pope Young Fun Shoot was held on 31st May at Sywell Range, and all entrants seemed to have had a great time. The distances this year were shorter than last year, and probably more realistic for most archers. The winners were – Neville de Sousa (Gents Senior), BerylTabberner (Lady Senior), George Bond (Junior Gent) and Hazel Dalley (Junior Lady). Our Fun Shoot for the end of the Season will be on 3rd October. The type of shoot has yet to be decided, but we welcome any suggestions (within reason!).
The NAC’s Silly Boys
We’re Outdoors Again – and a great indoor season we had too.
The indoor season shooting at Moulton College is now over, and it seems to have flown so quickly. 2014-15 was probably one of the most successful winter season’s NAC has ever had, with the John Ashby Sports Hall regularly near to it’s full capacity of archers. All of our competitions have been well attended, and the Robin and Marian end-of-season fun shoot held on 28th March, a Portsmouth round with a twist, resulted in a team of three of our juniors and just one senior (Alan a Dale’s Dudes), beating our most experienced and veteran (if we dare use the term) shooters. Well done – Bailey, Lizzie, Hazel and Heather – don’t eat your Easter Egg trophies too quickly. The outdoor season starts at noon on Saturday 4th April at Sywell Range, Kettering Road. However shooting on Tuesdays will continue at Carlsberg Sports and Social Club until the lighter evenings arrive. The first outdoor Tuesday session will be on 5th May 2015.
Halloween Ping Taty Bogle, 2014
The NAC held it’s Halloween Ping Taty Bogle at the Sywell range on Saturday the 1st November. The event always attract a host of members and visitors and a good time was had by all. Hot dogs and soup was the order of the day along with anything else that could be secretly stashed beneath the tables!……. The organisation of this event is probable one of the hardest in our calendar and we thank the many volunteers that took the time to make it again so successful. Our chairlady presented the prizes to the winners of the shoot and also the Pumpkin Carving Challenge and thanked all the members and guests for their support.
