No less than six members of NAC represented Northamptonshire at the 57th Inter-counties Archery Tournament held at Bramcote Archery Club in Nottingham on 6th September. Well done to Ian Hyde, Paul Hyde (both longbow); and David Quemby, Kelly Pearce, James Mason and Susan Corless (all Compound) for being part of the County team. Sadly we didn’t have recurve or barebow shooters in the team – now come on NAC. In the final reckoning, on a sunny day that started with light winds, strengthening later on, Northants came fourth in the Longbow Boat Trophy and second in the compound Bradgate Trophy. In the individual awards, Susan took first in the ladies compound, and James Mason second in the Gents compound, whilst David, Kelly, Paul and Ian all scored very respectably. Northants were last in the Recurve Thoresby Trophy and third in the Barebow Trophy. Full results can be found here. Well done NAC.

Lizzie Brings Back Gold From Edinburgh
When NAC archer Lizzie Cantopher greeted members at the club shooting session on Tuesday this week, she was all smiles. Quite right so, after returning with six medals, a glass plaque and a cup from the World Archery Commonwealth Championships for Europe Tournament held in Edinburgh on the 4th and 5th July . Lizzie, representing England, came third in the Open Ladies Recurve, and when shooting as part of the team event, England came first. This was equalled in the Mixed Team shoot, but Lizzie narrowly missed a bronze in the head-to-head. To top it all Lizzie scored a six gold end in the FITA 720 round and (subject to Dean’s scrutiny!) broke a county record. Fantastic shooting and well done. And all this in miserable wet Scottish weather. Lizzie says all NAC members should be encouraged by her efforts, and is quick to point out that every archer has the potential to be a champ. More photos can be found on the Scottish Archery Facebook page .
Junior triumphs.
Well here he is again, our young Harley, this time sensibly dressed and collecting a trophy after a county shoot. Several of our juniors are doing extremely well in competitions and there are more of them who hold records of some type. If you have any photo’s similar to this one I will be very happy the place it on our webpages for the rest of us to see.
On the left is the new county chairman, Glen Taylor who is also a coach, and of course Tim Bull who is also a coach and has just completed the county coaching course where 7 of our junior member attended and the reports were they did extremely well and the course was a great success. So a big thank you to Tim and his team.
When I asked for permission to show this picture on our website both Glen and Tim tried to bride me by as they wanted me to Photoshop in some good six packs. Sorry fellas, thanks for the cash but you can’t buy a miracle!!
