NAC has some cracking archers

During the last week our records officers have been doing some analysis of the results of our Open Competition on 12th August. What they found was really good news. Under the GNAS classification scheme, the large proportion of our archers scored 2nd class scores or above  for their categories in the tournament. Some of our juniors performed exceptionally well, with two getting first class scores. Fantastic. All we need now is continued fine weather, a few more good scores (each archer needs three in a season), and we will be presenting some more Classification awards. To work out your classification/handicap go to Archers Mate.

And the good news keeps coming……………

On Sunday 19th August Dave Quemby, Paul Hyde, Susan Corless and Chris Gibson shot in the Gerry Brailsford Memorial Shoot at Wellingborough Open Archery Club. Archers shot FITA & Metric rounds and the day was lets say very hot and humid. Paul Hyde scored 1019 in the Metric 1, Susan Corless scored 920 in the Ladies FITA, and Chris Gibson scored 274 in the Short Metric – all obtaining gold. Dave Quemby scored 1276 in the gents FITA.

NAC also placed second in the team round, with a total score of 3215 comprised of Dave Quemby, Paul Hyde and Susan Corless. The full results can be found here.

Well done!

Members of NAC complete basic Coaching Course

Paul and Murray

On 29th July ten members of NAC completed a basic archery coaching coarse at Carlsberg Sports and Social Club. Tutored by our club coaches, Paul Barrett and Murray Ager, the day covered a whole spectrum of topics from giving safety briefings to analyzing and helping with shooting techniques – especially for  beginners and have-a-go events. The day was very intensive, but very rewarding; and it is hoped further courses will be held in the not too distant future.

NAC Open 12 August 2012 – and at last the sun shone

A happy end to a perfect day. Sylvia (our judge), Pam (chair lady) and Robyn (Lady Paramount).

Despite several abandoned attempts at holding an outdoor competition this year because of bad weather, Sunday 12th August proved to be a fantastic day for NAC’s 2nd Annual Open Nationals Tournament at Sywell Range. Over 40 archers took part on a beautifully sunny day and a splendid time was had by all; with several club and county records being broken or set. Along with all the hard work by many NAC members, our thanks go to Sylvia Underlin, our judge for the day, and Chris Mason of NCAS and WOAC for his advisory role in setting up the range. Not least of all we thank the archers from far and wide who attended and took part on this memorable day.

The Results from our Open on 12th August can be found here.
