Junior Fun Day, Presentations and Barbecue – What a day!

Our Juniors Fun Day, Awards Ceremony and Barbecue at Sywell last Saturday 26th September, was a storming success with a great turn out and beautiful sunny weather. Some of our more experienced and (dare we say) older  archers thoroughly enjoyed joining the youngsters shooting balloons and plastic balls at the 20 yard range. Great Fun. Florence  (Sidney Cato’s widow)  joined us afterwards with her family to present the winners and participants in the Sidney Cato Shoots with shields and medals. Then came the barbecue. The food was absolutely amazing – wow! What a fantastic catering team! (I have been advised not to mention any names here!). Thanks to everyone at NAC who made this day so special. A real highlight of the year.

NAC Perform at the NCAS County Outdoor Championships

Five NAC archers shot at the County Outdoor Championships held at Wellingborough Archery Club on 13th September, a cloudy but warm day that later turned a little breezy.  Ian Hyde came second overall in the gents longbow, but first in County with a score of 451 in the York round. Susan Corless  came first in the Ladies Compound Hereford Round with a score of 1256, whilst Kelly was second in county with a score of 1182. Kelly also achieved a six gold end. Dave Docker, brought home gold in the Gents National Round.   David Q sadly brought home nothing bar his usual smile, but shot well in the hotly contested gents compound. Well done again NAC.

Six NAC Members represent County at Inter Counties Shoot

No less than six members of NAC represented Northamptonshire at the 57th Inter-counties Archery Tournament held at Bramcote Archery Club in Nottingham on 6th September. Well done to Ian Hyde, Paul Hyde (both longbow); and David Quemby, Kelly Pearce, James Mason and Susan Corless (all Compound) for being part of the County team. Sadly we didn’t have recurve or barebow shooters in the team – now come on NAC. In the final reckoning, on a sunny day that started with light winds, strengthening later on, Northants came fourth in the Longbow Boat Trophy and second in the compound Bradgate Trophy. In the individual awards, Susan took first in the ladies compound, and James Mason second in the Gents compound, whilst David, Kelly, Paul and Ian all scored very respectably. Northants were last in the Recurve Thoresby Trophy and third in the Barebow Trophy. Full results can be found here. Well done NAC.

Wind and Rain doesn’t put off archers at the NAC Open

Rain at Sywell croppedDespite strong winds in the morning and torrential rain in the afternoon, archers were not daunted at the NAC Open Nationals Tournament held at Sywell Range on Saturday 23rd August. Although shooting conditions were pretty bad all day, shooters wore smiles throughout  and a great day was had. Eight county clubs were represented at the event and we are sure the day will be remembered by most, but not really for the reasons we would usually like. Results have been published here . Photos will be published on our Galleries page. A big thank you to all who shot or otherwise supported the shoot in any way.

Hollowell Steam Rally Have a Go, 2015

DSC_0006

This years Hollowell Steam Rally which took place over the first weekend in July went really well and the picture above shows some, but not all of the volunteers who helped in some way over the 3 day festival. Not all volunteers were NAC members, some were family and friends so we thank them all for whatever input they had.

So it’s a big thank you to those who met over at Sywell to load up and take all of our equipment to Hollowell on the Friday morning.

At least 3 families took the option to stay over the whole of the weekend in caravans so I dread to think what they all got up to once the public disappeared.

On the Saturday the weather was fantastic and we did a lot of business. Sunday started really nice but later in the day we had some rain which soaked everything just in time for us to pack up everything!!

Overall the taking were good and will be shown within our accounts and it’s opportunities like this that help us provide the equipment we desperately need for a growing club such as ours.

I will place a few picture within our gallery section of our website but not to many this year as most years tend to look the same anyway.
