Round 2 of Inter-club Challenge – Field Shoot

Daventry Field Shoot 3
NAC members at the Daventry Field Shoot. If we said both young and old – Alan may take offence!

Round two of the new Inter Club Challenge, a field shoot at Daventry on Saturday 11th June,  hosted by Long Buckby Archery Club was another great success with a full team taking part from NAC. This new event is proving to be a popular and fantastic idea. The next round is a Clout hosted by Kettering Archers on Sunday 24th July, with the final round on 30th July, being a Pope Young. NAC will be the hosts. The results so far are being kept top secret.

Something New, an Inter-club Challenge

Something new this year. David Quemby has arranged with three other clubs in the county to form an Inter-club Challenge. There will be teams from each club, 4 different venues, and 4 different disciplines.
Shoot 1    21-05-16 WOAC, American Round, 14.30 at Old Grammarians Memorial Sports Field, Sywell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 6BS
Shoot 2    11-06-16 LBAC, Field, 13.00, Rugby Club Daventry NN11 4ST
Shoot 3    24-07-16 KAC, Clout, 10.00, Cricket and Sports Club, Kettering NN15 7JX
Shoot 4    30-07-16 NAC, Pope Young, 16.00,  Sywell Range
There are no compounds for the Clout and Pope Young
NAC members can enter for all 4 shoots or just 1 shoot, whatever they would like.  It will not necessarily be the same team for each shoot and NAC will try and give as many people a shoot as possible.  The idea is for archers to get experience at the different disciplines, so no previous experience is necessary. If you are not sure about anything or need to ask about Field shooting, Clout or the Pope Young then please come and ask Dave Quemby. Members of other clubs in the challenge should contact their own organiser.
The final shoot, the Pope Young hosted by ourselves, will also include a BBQ. All welcome even if you are not shooting for the team.
Everyone is welcome to come along to any of the venues to support and watch if you do not make the team.

Vaughan Tucker Quiz Night Raises Over £200

VaughanshootingOur quiz night on Tuesday 15th March at Carlsberg was a great success with a total of just over £200 being raised towards the funding of an AED (defibrillator) for NAC. Entries to the quiz, along with a raffle raised just over £120, whilst a donation of a fantastic £50 was received from Victoria and Lynette on behalf of Emily – Angel on our Shoulders fundraisers. A big thank you for this; and also a big thank you to our quizmaster for the night, Peter Bond, who made the evening great fun – whilst managing to really tax our brains. Also  thanks to David Quemby and Pam Joseph for organising this great  worthwhile event. Subsequent to the quiz a further anonymous donation of £30 was received –  thanks again. Vaughan Tucker was a valued member of NAC who collapsed and died of a cardiac arrest on 15th March 2015 at Cosgrove. He was a quiet witty man with a very laid back attitude to shooting with his familiar horsebow. He is sadly missed.  More about him can be found here.

NAC Open Portsmouth 2016

NAC Open Portsmouth 2016 News

Archers came from far and wide to take part in NAC’s 2016 Open Portsmouth held at John Ashby Sports Hall on Sunday 28th February 2016. Shooters from 12 clubs took part in the tournament, which was NAC’s fourth open event at Moulton. In addition to Northamptonshire – Staffordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the West Midlands were all represented by 48 archers.  Despite a heating failure in the hall on a cold day, a good day was had by all. Some fantastic shooting at a great (but cold) venue. The results can be found here.
