This years Boxing Day “Ping” competition was held at the Sywell Shooting Range. The weather was very kind to us as it was a very mild 11- 12deg C December day although at times it was rather cloudy with a fair breeze. It’s fair to say that the majority of club members turned out for this years event. There was mulled wine and mince pies to be enjoyed by all whilst the totals were being “totted up ” by Dave Q.Close to the end of the shoot the chairman tried to escape back to the safety of his home but was cleverly ambushed by the junior members who pelted him with what looked like cotton wool snowballs. Last year of course he had similar treatment but they were using real snow. One of our longest serving members ( honoree ) “Pete Bond” joined us at this years event and he was thrilled with the increase in the senior membership and so impressed with the numbers of juniors coming through and taking an interest in the sport. It was nice to see Pete back at the field with a bow in his hand and he was told so by our vice chairperson Pam Joseph. On the day there was a high number of good scores but the overall winner was Pete Bond with Paul Barrett in second place and Beryl (our very own Bez) with Mick Lovell (topside) both in joint 3rd place. Thanks to all who participated to make this a memorable day.
